An algorithm refreshes every five days, analyzing vegetation dryness, type, and volume, along with proximity to infrastructure, buildings, and residential areas. From that analysis, every polygon on the map receives a priority score from 0 to 100; colour-coded orange for high priority, yellow for medium, and green for low. Zoom into any zone and see exactly why it scored the way it did: fuel hazard, building exposure, road access, and mean slope, all broken out individually.
Fire stations and live active fires are mapped alongside the treatment zones, so teams always know who’s closest and what’s already happening on the ground.
Seeing the Landscape Clearly
Canopy height data updates every season at up to 30-meter resolution, a critical input for fuel mitigation planning that’s easy to miss with lower-resolution tools. Layers for reported fires, perimeters, lightning, land cover, and canopy height can all be toggled on independently, and treatment areas can be reclassified on demand by priority class, fuel hazard, building exposure, road access, slope, or candidate area.
Filtering for the Organizations That Need It
Different organizations care about different risks. The Fuel Treatment tool lets a group, an electrical utility, for example, filter the map down to only what matters to them: power infrastructure, oil and gas, residential zones, railways, or all of it at once, instantly surfacing their highest-priority areas.
The Fuel Prescription tool takes that a step further. Choose a treatment method; thinning, pruning, surface fuel reduction, fuel breaks, mastication, mowing, or prescribed burns, and see exactly how adjusting treatment intensity changes canopy cover, vegetation density, and fuel continuity before a single crew is deployed.
Evidence From the Field
Once work begins, crews can log it directly in the system, creating projects, mapping treated polygons, uploading photos and documents, and tracking progress through review and approval. It turns fieldwork into a verified, auditable record instead of scattered notes.
Burn Window: Finding the Safest Time to Ignite
One of FireX’s standout capabilities is the Burn Window tool. Controlled ignitions come with real constraints; wind has to carry smoke away from residential areas, the burn area can’t be too large, and conditions need to stay containable throughout. FireX screens the next seven days across a custom-drawn area or a suggested treatment polygon and identifies the safest windows for ignition, down to the specific day and hour, where smoke drifts clear of communities and conditions stay controllable.
Proving the Impact: Treatment Simulator
The Treatment Simulator is a true before-and-after tool. Adjust fuel load, spread rate, continuity, and spotting to reflect completed mitigation work, drop a point for a hypothetical fire, and set a start time and duration. The result is a direct comparison: a guaranteed burn area in yellow against a much larger untreated burn area in orange, with a graph tracking burned area over time for both scenarios, making the value of treatment immediately visible.
Risk, Weather, and Satellite Intelligence, All in One Place
The Risk Analysis tool maps fuel load, Fire Weather Index, and Wildfire Hazard Index across any drawn region. A weather pointer delivers live temperature, humidity, wind, and precipitation for any point on the map. The Satellite Explorer taps into petabytes of imagery, filterable by date, cloud cover, and composite index. And the Fire Spread tool simulates spread from a single point over 3 to 24 hours, across multiple active fires, or against historical hotspot data for any date range, with infrastructure layers toggleable throughout.
An AI Agent That Runs the Platform For You
Every capability in FireX is also accessible through its AI Agent. Ask, “How are conditions today, and what should we do?” and it returns a full severity assessment with recommended actions.
